OUR PHILOSOPHY

Ocean Medical's treatment philosophy is established around an individualized patient-centered, comprehensive, biopsychosocial approach to the disease of addiction, is driven by a quality improvement plan focused on measurable outcomes and is based in applied behavioral science.

Ocean Medical utilizes an interdisciplinary team approach to all aspects of program development and the provision of services.

Ocean Medical is committed to providing interventions supported by research, including implementation based on data that clearly correlates the multiple effects of environment, family dynamics, mental illness, traumatic events, compulsive behaviors, and addiction.  Ocean Medical's philosophy of care includes a total commitment to high quality substance abuse treatment to all clients regardless of race, religion, ethnic origin, HIV status, sexual orientation, gender, age, or socio-economic position.

Ocean Medical believes in a holistic approach to the treatment of addiction by utilizing the full benefits of medication, substance abuse counseling, family support/counseling, and community based resources in a multi faceted approach.

Ocean Medical believes that no clients should be driven to terminate their treatment prematurely.

Ocean Medical supports methadone maintenance treatment for as long as the client is stable and benefiting from the treatment.

Ocean Medical considers addiction to be a primary, progressive, chronic disorder, subject to relapse, which affects the entire family unit and community at large.  Successful long-term outcomes require addressing relapse potential, behavior modification, expanded opportunities to improve life style (educationally and vocationally), discharge planning and a comprehensive aftercare plan.  Ocean Medical incorporates all life areas into the treatment plan for recovery.  Education and skill building are utilized to help the patient gain initial control over his/her chemical dependency, as well as a variety of life problems, and may be drawn upon long after treatment has ended.
